_ The 2021 Badwax Pursuit Series:

Welcome to the 1st annual Badwax Pursuit Series.  A fun way to stay fit, see friends, and test your skiing!  Fun formats, and beginner friendly for folks just starting out.

WHERE: Lubrecht Experiment Forest,  38689 MT-200, Greenough, MT 59823. 25 miles outside of Missoula to the East on Hwy 200.  You take the turn off the highway and go right at the split.  The normal Lubrecht ski parking.  Race HQ and start/finish will be at the Champions Loop and in the pavilion.

WHEN: January 11th, 18th, 25th, February 1st, 8th, 15th  Monday evenings.  Check in and bib pick up is 5:00 - 5:45pm.  First skier off at 6pm sharp.

FORMAT: 6 weeks of racing!  All abilities welcome.  In general it's a time trial with 10 second intervals.  The order of the time trial is based up on your previous weeks overall finish.  We will alternate between skate and classic weeks.  The courses will be around 15km in length.  Double K for Badwax Skiers.  At skier check in you will be handed a race bib that correlates with your finish in the previous race.  That is also your start order.  The races will be chip timed.  At 5:55pm line up in your start order at the start area.

WEEK 1 - "Seeding Race", start time based on registration order. SKATE

WEEK 2 - "What is Classic", classic 10km pursuit style, order based on where you finished in the seeding race. CLASSIC

WEEK 3 - "Ladies Night", skate 15km pursuit style, all ladies who race get a free custom waterbottle. SKATE

WEEK 4 - "Classic ROCKS", classic 10km, hopefully there isn't real rocks on course, CLASSIC

WEEK 5 - "Skatetastic", 90's theme skate race, 15km, SKATE

WEEK 6 - "Classicly Classic", finale night hills and thrills, 10km, CLASSIC

 

INCLUDED: A special edition MTCX nordic hat, receive upon completion. Awards for finishing all 6 races.  Awards for first across line both male and female (regardless of time).

 

NOT INCLUDED: No food or water is included.  This is subject to change with COVID restrictions.

 

COVID RULES

COVID protocols for the race are subject to change at any time, based upon Missoula County Health recommendations and the promoters comfort level.  Skiers can get a full refund if they decide not to attend.  Skier will receive a full refund if the clinic is cancelled.

As of 9/4/2020.

  • A six-foot physical distance must be kept and maintained during all events.
    - Events are limited to 50 pre registered athletes.
    - Participants need to be 6 feet apart during all aspects of the event.  From the parking lot, to walking to your group.
    - Each group at each event will have a separate meeting place within the venue that is 50 feet apart from the next group.  
    - Any starting grid for a race will be a time trial start 10 seconds apart.  The line up will be athletes 6 feet apart.
    - Once on skis trails athletes are told to give six feet of passing space when possible and to avoid drafting or sitting behind fellow skiers for more than 15 seconds.
    - Please show up at a maximum 10 minutes early and leave within 10 minutes of the end of the event.
  • Wave starts and group size.
    - There will be 10-15 participants per any group. 
    - For races, there will be a time trial start with athletes 10 seconds apart.
    - For races, there will be max 50 skiers on a 10km course at once, social distanced when possible.
    - Groups will not intermingle on the trails.  This means do not wait in locations with other groups on the trails.  For 50 skiers gathering for announcements, 6 feet apart.
    - Contract tracing in the results of a positive will utilize the online pre registration and check in data.
    - Symptom and pre screening for volunteers and participants.
  •  All participants and volunteers will have their temperature read at check in by myself.
    - All participants will fill out a pre screening symptom sheet prior to racing
    - If a participant or volunteer has symptoms I will send them home.
    - If someone shows up and is not pre-registered. I will send them away.
  • Keeping things clean and germ free                                                                                                                                                                                            
  • - There are very few surfaces and the event is held outdoors. 
  • - At check in riders will use cleaned and new pens only.  There will be a clean pen and dirty      pen cup.  
  • - Indoor bathrooms or porta potties will be used with handwashing stations
  • - Hand sanitizer will be available at check in and will be used when riders check in and leave check in.
  • - Masks are required at all times with the exception of when skiers are physically skiing for more than 1 minute.
