2020 Gaylord Gauntlet 5K Trail & Obstacle Run: - CANCELLED

Held entirely on the 400-acre campus of Gaylord Specialty Healthcare in Wallingford,  the Gauntlet offers a blend of wooded trail and open field running with 24 natural and man-made obstacles along the way to test an athlete’s strength and endurance. Upper body strength will be featured in some obstacles including a rock wall climb and vine swings. The race will feature 20 waves of runners and is appropriate for those aged 12 and older. Runner check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. with the initial wave launching at 8:00 a.m. and the final wave launching at 2:00 p.m. The Gauntlet will be held rain or shine. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories and all participants will have a timing chip in their bib. Costumes are highly encouraged! A festival area will feature a live DJ and food and beverage trucks. A complimentary kids’ obstacle course will be open for children aged 5 – 11 who are accompanied by an adult. The cost of registration at gaylordgauntlet.org is $85 through August 14. The day-of-race registration fee will be $90. All runners will receive a Gauntlet t-shirt, a chipped racing bib and a ticket for a free beer or other beverage. All proceeds will support key Gaylord programs such as the Gaylord Sports Association which offers adaptive sports and recreation programs to adults with physical disabilities and visual impairments in Connecticut and the Northeast at no cost or a minimal fee and the ThinkFirst program which offers risk prevention education to schools and civic groups. Last year’s event netted more than $83,000 for the Gaylord Sports Association.
