In light of the increasing restrictions on large gatherings due to the Coronavirus pandemic, The Crystal Coast Triathlon Board of Directors has decided to postpone the Crystal Coast Half Booty Tri to the fall of this year.
The Swim takes place in Gallant's Channel off the western side of the new Gallant's Channel Bridge in Beaufort. This protected area provides a salt water swim without strong ocean currents. The surface water temperature averages 72.1 degrees on event day,
The Bike route ventures out of Beaufort into small neighboring towns including Morehead City, Newport and Havelock. The course is flat and fast. The only significant elevation changes are three bridges over channels and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.
The Run goes out towards downtown Beaufort with many historical homes on the first part of the run course and offers views of Carrot Island across Taylor Creek. The course continues through residential Beaufort before returning and finishing in downtown Beaufort.
From Raleigh's RDU Airport, Beaufort is approximately a 160 mile drive. New Bern's Regional Airport EWN is considered the Coastal Carolina Airport and is approximately a 40 mile drive to Beaufort. The Start/Transition zone is just off of Hwy 70.
