_ The 2020 Hopkins Royal Triathlon:
On Saturday, September 5, 2020, I'm doing the Hopkins Royal Triathlon again. This is Labor Day weekend. Save the date!
You are invited to watch me do the Hopkins Royal Triathlon. This is the third time I’ve done the triathlon. It’s really meaningful to me if you can support me by being present and cheering for me. I once watched a triathlon and I thought it was fun.
After the race, there will be free food and everybody is welcome to eat the food. There will be vegan options; I have been working with the race director on that! The race starts at 8:15 am and I’ll finish by 10 am. You can either leave then or you can stay and celebrate for a while.
If instead you’d like to join me and do the triathlon with me, you’re welcome to! Here are the details of the triathlon: http://www.hopkinsroyaltri.com/. There is a mini-sprint distance to try, especially for folks who don't want to swim far.
Sprint distance (aka" "Rubies" for polished gems)
750 yard swim (clean sandy beach, clear deep water with no boats/jetskis)
14 mile bike ride (triple loop, with a couple of hills)
5K run (flat and mostly on a trail)
Mini-sprint distance (aka: "Newbies" for diamonds in the rough)
100 yard swim (either you can swim or you can't)
4.5 mile bike (shorter and flatter, just one hill to climb)
1.6 mile run (bad knees?? You can crawl this if need be)
