_ The 2020 Ironman Maryland:
The comradery at IRONMAN Maryland is unlike anywhere else. Athletes share a special bond where they embrace helping one another, staying positive and encouraging everyone to make it across the finish line. The small-town hospitality of Cambridge rallies around IRONMAN Maryland to share in athlete’s excitement. Every single first-time athlete will rest easy knowing they are surrounded by the most supportive community and leave being forever a part of the Crabby culture.
Swim Start and Transition will be located in Gerry Boyle Park at
Great Marsh. Athletes will begin their day with a 2 loop swim in the Choptank River.
With a reputation for the flattest bike course on the circuit, cyclists will begin their ride along the Choptank River. The 2 loop, 112 Miles discipline will take athletes through some of the amazing wildlife in Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge with its spectacular marshland and scenic views.
The 26.2 mile is 2.5 loop, flat course will begin at Gerry Boyle Park at Great Marsh Park where athletes will run through residential and downtown Cambridge. Athletes will finish their day at the historic Long Wharf, backdropped against the Choptank River Lighthouse.
