_ The 2020 Keiki Tradewind Triathlon:

Come join us for our tenth event of the Commanding Officer’s Race Series!

Are you looking for a fun and challenging children’s only Triathlon? If so, come join MCCS in our 7th annual Tradewind Tri. This sprint triathlon will consist of two age divisions: 7-10 years old division and 11-14 years old division. The Keiki Tradewind Triathlon will start at the Base Pool for the swim portion, and transition to the bike ride throughout the beautiful and scenic Marine Corps Base Hawaii, finishing with the run. This race is open to the general public.

Age Category Distances

The 11-14 age division race will start at 0630 on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

Distances: Swim: 200 Meters – Bike: 5.0 Miles – Run: 1.2 Miles

The 7-10 age division race will start at 0730 on Saturday, April 25, 2020

Distances: Swim: 100 Meters – Bike: 3 Miles – Run: .8 Miles

Civilian Registration Deadline: Sunday, August 16, 2020

Early Registration with guaranteed shirt : Deadline Thursday, August 13, 2020

Cost per individual: $25

Regular Registration (no guaranteed shirt): Begins Friday, August 14, 2020

Cost per individual: $3

Online registration deadline: Tuesday, August 18 2020 by 11:59HST

Registrations will be accepted morning of race for authorized base personnel beginning at 5:30am. Payment must be made by cash or check only. T-shirt is not guaranteed.

All registrations are non-refundable.

Event details and schedule

Packet Pick-up Information:

Packet pickup for civilians, military, dependents and DoD employees will be held at the MCBH Front Gate Pass House parking lot on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm and for military, dependents and DoD employees at the Semper Fit Center, Building 3037 on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Packets may also be picked up the morning of the race beginning at 5:30am. All civilian participants will receive a special event pass at packet pickup for base access the day of the race.

Check in and Safety Inspections:

Check-in begins at 5:00am. The safety brief for the 11-14 age group will take place at 6:15am. The safety brief for the 7-10 age group will take place at 7:15am. Helmets must be worn at all times while on the bikes. Bike inspections will be available prior to the race.

Swim portion: The swim portion will take place at the base pool on MCBH. It is highly encouraged that all children are comfortable swimming in water on their own. There will be lifeguards to assist as needed. Fins or life jackets will NOT be allowed

Awards: Each child participant will receive a finisher medal!
