_ The 2020 Firebolt Youth Triathlon:
2020 FIREBOLT YOUTH TRI CANCELLED
Bolt Mulltisport is a family made up of the participants (families) who have been loyal to us, the volunteers who give up their time to help us at each and every event, the sponsors who support our mission, the race planning team (and their families) who put their heart and souls into these races and the community and city of Sierra Vista that hosts our top-tier events. I hope that we all come out of this crisis with a greater appreciation for the things that matter most and also the things that we take for granted.
Firebolt Youth Triathlon is a USAT Sanctioned Swim, Bike, Run event for kids ages 5-17 years old. It will consist of (5-10 year olds) 50 yd swim, 3 mile bike, .5 mile run and (11-17 year olds) 200 yd swim, 6 mile bike, 1 mile run. Awards will be presented to age group winners and overall winners in each race as well as the relay teams. The goal of the Firebolt is to provide an opportunity for kids to engage in the sport of triathlon, have fun and be a part of something amazing. Participants will receive an overall time at the finish. They will also recieve a t-shirt, finisher's award a full race bag of goodies and glory for them and their family. Participate as an individual (do the whole thing yourself) OR part of a Relay Team (swimmer, cyclist or runner). Among other things this race is very well supported by volunteers. We have vendors, food at the finish, drinks and a slip and slide finish. Bolt Multisport Races strive to be inclusive events with the ability to make accommodations for children with physical or developmental disabilities. If your child would like to participate, and they have a diagnosed disability which could fairly and reasonably be addressed with an accommodation, please encourage them to participate. Our goal is to help each one of them make it to the finish line by allowing a measure help. There will be an opportunity to explain and request accommodations in the registration process. Very Important: Kids will be placed in the age group according to their age on December 31, 2019. For example, if your child turns 11 in November, they would race against 11-12 year olds on April 6, 2019. This also means that 17 year olds turning 18 in the year of the race are not eligible to race. On the other end of the spectrum, a 4 year old turning 5 by December 31 of the race year is eligible to race (against other 5-6 year olds.) This is a USAT rule, is maintained through all USAT races and ensures consistency from one race to the next.
