Bowl Canyon Recreation Area
Saturday, August 15, 2020

REGISTRATION – Online registration is now open. The registration fee includes a
t-shirt, post-race food, finisher’s medals to all, course support and awards to top finishers.
Online registration ($40 for adults and $10 for youth 18 and under) can be found at the
NavajoYES website: www.navajoyes.org. Local/native rider fee is $30 (enter code BIKER19).
Race day registration will also take place an hour before the start of the race at Asaayi Jct.
The race begins at 9:00 a.m.
Any proceeds from registration or donations will benefit the work of the Dine’ Bike Project on
the Navajo Nation.

FOOD & SUPPORT – Your registration includes an aid station support on the course (at the
turn-around point at mile 8.5), portable toilets, light medical and minor mechanical support.
Everyone will enjoy post-race food, drinks and fresh fruit at the finish line. There will be course
marshals and parks staff that will be monitoring the race throughout, and assistance for riders
will be available as needed. Riders are encouraged to carry some light mechanical items and
pump.

ROUTES – The course begins at the Asaayi Jct, which is 8 1/2 miles from route 12 and just three miles south of Lake Asaayi.  The race goes west to Hwy 12 and then north to Crystal Jct.  From there, riders head east on NM Hwy 134 up to Narbona Pass.  The course is all pavement and will be open to the public.

WEATHER – Expect summer conditions. While the race is at 7500-8000 feet elevation, the
temperatures are still likely to be in the 70’s and 80’s. Cloud cover, wind or precipitation (even
monsoons, of course) are possible in August. It is advisable to look ahead at the forecast a few
days before the race, checking Navajo, NM or Crystal, NM

AWARDS – There are finisher’s medals for all finishers. Overall winners receive a stunning
pottery award, while youth, masters and senior age-group winners earn a plaque award.
