On December 25, 2016 we lost a mother daughter, sister and aunt who was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend and father to D’Metra’s two sons who are now 3 and 6 years of age. We are hoping to raise awareness in our community and surrounding communities. In February 23, 2019 we had our first annual Domestic Violence awareness 5K run/walk. Through the generous sponsors, participates and donator’s we were able to give $4000 to Mid-Coast Family Services/ Women Crisis Center in Victoria and 6 $1,000 scholarships were given to CHS graduating Senior’s. This year the 5K run/walk will be held February 29, 2020 at the Cuero Municipal Park. The event will start at 8 am with registration, at 8:45am a gratitude speech will be given. Funds raised through sponsorship, race registrations, donations will support scholarships at Cuero High School and the remainder proceeds will be split with Mid-Coast Family Services/Women Crisis Center in Victoria and the Camel House in Cuero.
