Description

NASA-JSC's 2020 Aliens vs. Astronauts 1k. Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 13. Saturday, March 28, 2020. Race will take place at the Gilruth Center, 18600 Space Center Blvd., Houston, TX, 77058. Parent's may accompany their small children.

REGISTRATION CUTOFF IS WEDNESDAY MARCH 25 DUE TO NASA-JSC SECURITY PROTOCOL. NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST CHECK-IN AT THE REGISTRATION TABLE THE MORNING OF THE RACE TO RECEIVE A SECURITY WRIST BAND.
 


 

REGISTRATION
Early registration: Ends March 8. $15.
(shirt included & finisher medal included)

Late Registration: March 9- March 25. $20.
(shirt not guaranteed. Finisher medal included)

AVA Shirt Model
Shirt is unisex, athletic blend 50/50 material.

 

AVA 2020 medal

The medal is one of a kind! This is a die-cast medal with a moveable piece. The command/service module (Odyssey) with lunar lander (Aquarius) move around the Moon and Earth.


PACKET PICK UP
Participants may pick up their bags at the Gilruth Center from 4pm-6pm on Friday, March 27. Finisher medals and wrist bands will not be given out until race day. Both 1k and 5k participants who finish the course will receive a medal.


RESULTS
Race results will be posted on runhoustontiming.net

 


PARKING
All parking will at the Gilruth Center at no charge. Parking is limited to the north, south, and east lots.


 

 

TIMETABLE
7:00am - Check-in starts
7:45am - Best dressed award (one winner based on people's applause)
7:50am - Group stretch
7:55am - National Anthem
8:00am - Kid's 1k start
8:15am - 5k race countdown and launch
9:15am - 5k individual and team awards presentation (Blue Bonnet pavilion)


AWARDS
No special awards will be given to the 1k participants.

*Several hydration stations and road guards will be stationed around both the 1k and 5k courses for participant safety.


BEST DRESSED
A single person will be chosen best dressed by participant voting applause. If you want to participate in the voting please arrive no later than 7:30am and report to the MC tent next to the start line. The voting will take place at 7:45am. This is a relaxed and fun themed event, so come dressed as your favorite Alien or Astronaut!
