YOUR EPIC JOURNEY BEGINS!

The finish line may hold the glory - but the start line is where adrenaline lives!!

On September 15th an adverture of a lifetime takes place.  You will want to be part of it!!

Event details and schedule

Hello Athletes!!

Most of the details here are on the video at THIS LINK but if you prefer to read or have a specific point you want to go over again here you are!!

Packet Pickup:
When arriving on site locate the MSE Racing tent near the transition site.  You will need a valid ID to pick up your packet.  Packet pickup will be available at:
Saturday: Noon to 5 – Saturday packet pickup is STRONGLY recommended.
Sunday:  Transition Opening to 4:30 am
You will have specific items in your packets:

  • Number tattoos – these go on each arm as your race number.  If your suit covers the upper part of your arm, simply put them on your forearms  The age group tattoo/relay “R” will go on the back of your left calf.  Tattoos must be on prior to entering transition.
  • Timing chip – This belongs on your left ankle.  Ensure when attached your leg is dry and the adhesive is given some time to dry prior to swimming
  • Swim Cap
    • Red: 70.3 athletes
    • White: Olympic athletes
    • Blue: Sprint Athletes
  • Bike/Helmet Stickers – stickers should be placed on the front of your helmet and somewhere visible on the bike (to the discretion of the athlete) though the seat tube is the most common.
  • Bib Number – Bib numbers only need to be worn on the run.

Parking:

Parking maps can be found ar www.capextri.com.  Early arrival is strongly recommended.

Transition:

Transition will open on Sunday morning at 4:30 am.  The exact GPS location of transition can be found at this pin drop:

The MSE Racing bike corrals or one of a kind. No other bike corral provides so much space for so many different kinds of bikes without pinching your tire in the process.
Each corral will have a flag on it of a specific color. All you need to do is find a rack with a flag that matches your cap color and you can rack anywhere on that corral. For example - red swim cap? Rack anywhere with a red flag.
Finally, every athlete has nearly 2' of space to plan their transition. What we ask all athletes to do is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE place your transition to YOUR left as you are facing YOUR bike. It doesn't matter which way your bike is facing: as you are facing your bike, your items go to your left.

Swim:
The swim will go out in 3 waves.  At the time of boarding, athletes will be asked to wear life vest properly secured and be seated while the raft is in motion.  Once arriving at the swim start you my stand back up and remove your vest.  At the start point athletes will be lined up in groups of 10 to jump into the lake and begin their adventure, the next group will go out 10 seconds later.  You may seed yourself in your race anywhere you choose, but once you are brought to the line you MUST go out with the wave you are assigned in.6:45 am 70.3 athletes

  • 7:20 am Olympic athletes
  • 7:45 am Sprint athletes
  • Times are subject to modification based on ground conditions.

Bike:
Please go to https://www.mseracing.com/capex-course.html for interactive maps.
Courses are a simple out and back.  The 70.3 course will have a bottle exchange and restroom available if needed.  Please follow all USAT rules during the triathlon.  Remember that this is an open road race, meaning cars do have the option to be on the road at this time, though we expect traffic to be minimal.  Course will be marked for turns in the color matching your swim cap and transition rack (Red, White, or Blue)

Run:
Please go to https://www.mseracing.com/capex-course.html for interactive maps.
As with the bike, the course is a simple out-and back with a small offset for Oly and 70.3 athletes.  Water and Electrolyte replacement will be at all stations, gels and restrooms will be available at Oly and 70.3 turn arounds.
The course will close 3:15 pm (8.5 hours).  If you feel you cannot finish the race in this timeframe, please consider switching to the Olympic or Sprint.
