_ The 2020 Litchfield Hills Triathlon:- CANCELLED
From The Race Registration Website: "the 2020 Litchfield Hills Triathlon will be postponed to 2021"
The challenging, highly rewarding Litchfield Hills Triathlon allows athletes to enjoy the scenic beauty of New Hartford, CT and the surrounding area in this Olympic distance event.
Start with a 1500m swim in the crystal clear waters of famous West Hill Lake, among the cleanest fresh water lakes in Connecticut. Then take on a 40K bike course with stunning mountain vistas. Finish with a 10K hilly run on rural back roads.
The Aqua Bike race will run simultaneously with the Triathlon on the same swim & bike course.
Olympic Triathlon and AquaBike
The Litchfield Hills Triathlon can be entered as a relay team of 2 or 3 members; each completing 1-2 of the event legs. Team members exchange the timing chip inside the transition area.
DIVISIONS:
Swim Course: The swim is a 1500m course in the clean, clear waters of West Hill Lake, which has one of the highest water ratings in the state. Swim waves start three minutes apart from the beach at Brodie Park. The swim is a counter-clockwise, triangular course of 750m where you will exit the water, re-enter and complete the course for a second loop. Exiting the water at the beach you will then encounter a 1/4 mile uphill run to the Transition. (*Bring a pair of shoes to leave at the waterfront as you do not want to do this run barefoot.)
Bike Course: Bike a beautiful loop course along back roads and wide shouldered main roads with a screaming downhill at the start and a rather painful uphill at the end. In between, the course rolls without any major up or downhills. The course measures 24.8 miles.
Transition: right onto West Hill Rd – 2 miles. Right onto Route 183 – 2.5 miles. Right onto Route 44 – 10 miles. Right onto Route 179 – 300 yards. Right onto Route 202 – 5 miles. Right onto Route 219 – 1 mile. Left onto Dings Rd – 0.5 miles. Right onto Maple Hollow Rd – 1 mile. Left on Bruning Rd – 2 miles mostly uphill. Left onto West Hill Rd – 0.8 miles. Right into Bike Finish and Transition at Brodie Park.
Participants in the Aqua Bike competition will complete the event after the bike. Finish times are recorded as participants cross the timing mat as they enter transition. Finishers can make their way to the Finish Line for their race medals.
Run Course: The 10K hillyvrun course takes place completely in a rural neighborhood on quiet, well-shaded, rolling streets.
From Transition, turn left toward flagpole, through park and left onto Niles Rd. Niles becomes West Hill Rd at town line. Straight onto Bsullak Rd. Right onto East West Hill Rd. East West Hill becomes Tumbull Rd. Right onto Berkshire Dr. Left onto Arrowhead Dr. Right onto Burwell Rd. Left onto Niles Rd. Right into Brodie Park, straight to finish chute.
