TRI for FUN Triathlon #2

The TRI for FUN Sprint Triathlon began in 1983, started by Fleet Feet Sports founder Sally Edwards. TBF Racing took over the event in 2001 and has enjoyed working with the SMUD Staff at Rancho Seco Park to bring you this classic Series of Triathlons each summer.

2020 Race Features

The original TRI for FUN Series is back in its 37th year at Rancho Seco Park. The Series Dates are: June 6, July 11, & August 8.

The race is at beautiful Rancho Seco Park featuring a lake swim, a road bike course, and a dirt trail run. The TRI for FUN Triathlon features a half-mile swim, 16 mile bike, 3 mile run course. Back in 2020 is our DU for FUN Duathlon with a 1 mile run-16 mile bike-3 mile run course. 

The Super Sprint TRI for FUN has a 200 yard swim-4 mile bike-1 mile run course. There is also a Super Sprint Duathlon with a 1 mile run-4 mile bike-1 mile run course.

All racers will receive an athlete goody bag, TRI for FUN Finisher Medal, hot post race meal, and a TBF Thank you gift, plus awards in each age group. TRI for FUN Commemorative race t-shirts are available for $15 when ordered before July 6. 

Awards will be given to the top five in each 10-year age group in each Triathlon, and to the top five overall in each Duathlon.

Super Sprint Duathlon 1 mile run-4 mile bike-1 mile run

TRI for FUN Triathlon - .5 m swim-16 m bike-3 m run

DU for FUN Duathlon - 1 mile run-16 mile bike-3 mile run

Relay Teams

Relay Teams are three person for the TRI for FUN Sprint Triathlon. Entry fee includes TBF Thank you gifts, athlete goody bags, post race meals, and Finisher Medals. Awards will be first through third in Male, Female and Coed divisions for the TRI for FUN Triathlon. Relay Teams can also enter the Super Sprint TRI. 

Packet Pick Up Information

Race packets will be available race morning from 6:30 am to 8:30 am at the race site. There is a $12 park entrance fee per vehicle.

Refund and Transfer Information

TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Race transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Participant transfers are allowed for this event with a $15 fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held Rain or Shine.

Race for FREE Information

Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing Volunteer Director [email protected] as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.

DU for FUN Duathlon - 8:30 a.m. Mass Start

TRI for FUN Triathlon - 8:30 a.m. Wave Starts

8:00 am - Entry into Rancho Seco Park closed from 8 am to 8:30 am due to Super Sprint event bike course closure. Vehicles can park and walk in approximately one mile or wait until the road opens at 8: 20-8:30 am.
