About Us:
Join us for the the 3rd Annual Love for Smiles 5K and the Children's Smile Mile. Presented with the support of The High Desert Runners, to raise money for the charity Smile Train. Your registration for this event will go toward creating a SMILE on a child’s face and change that child’s life forever. You will be a SMILE Maker!!

Smile Train is the world’s leading cleft charity. They partner with doctors and hospitals around the world to provide free surgery for children suffering from cleft lip and palate. If you aren’t familiar, clefts are a major problem in developing countries where there are more than one million children who are suffering with unrepaired clefts. Most cannot eat or speak properly. They aren’t allowed to attend school or hold a job. Some children are even abandoned and left to die. Children born with clefts are forced into lives of isolation and shame- all because of the way they look. And their clefts usually go untreated because they are poor. Too poor to pay for a simple surgery that costs as little as $250 and takes as little as 45 minutes.

Awards:
Custom designed cow bells and t-shirts for first 200 participants. Train Whistle for all Smile Mile participants.
 
Course:
We will start the race by the Softball fields and run around Marie Kerr Park. The 5K is an accurately measured course primarily on dirt paths and the auxiliary parking area of the park. The Kids Smile Mile is on the jogging path around a soccer field at the park. This 5K is a chip timed event.
 
Nutrition:
Water for all participants. There will not be a water station on the course so feel free to grab a water at the start.
 
Packet Pickup:
Friday, February 7, 2019 between 4 and 6:30 p.m

Race Day Registration:
Marie Kerr Park 6:45 to 7:45 a.m. (5K) and 8:15 a.m. for Kids Smile Mile.
