_ The 2019 Edenton Triathlon, Paddle, Pedal, Plod:
This is the sixth annual Chowan-Edenton Optimist ClubEdenton sprint triathlon, Paddle, Pedal and Plod. This race benfits the Devine Cancer Fund. The race is unique in that individule and team participants will Kayak 3K, Pedal 20 K, and Run 5K. The race will start at 8:30 am with the kayak leg from Queen Annes Park in down town Edenton. The course will be set that morning depending on weather and wave conditions. The course will be within Edenton harbor the site of a Civil War naval battle. The participants will return to the park and the bike portion will begin. The course is overwhelmingly flat and will include in town and rural traffic patterns. The course will take you through beautiful downtown historic Edenton to the spectacular farms and plantations of nearby Chowan County and will end back at Queen Annes Park. The final running leg will be through Hayes Plantation, a spectacular ante bellum plantation that is still a working farm. You will loop back to the park for the finish. The fastest time for this race was one hour and 10 minutes. There is no slowest time so you can just enjoy the beautiful sites if you want too.
Event details and schedule
Pre-registration the evening before at Watermans Restaurant on Broad St. 4pm to 7:00 pm. Onsite registration from 6 am to 7:30 am 6-22-19 at Queen Annes Park. A limited number of Kayaks can be rented in advance from the Parks and Recreation Department 252-482-8595. Life jackets are required for the Kayak portion and helmuts for the Ride. The race will begin at 8:30 and awards to follow afterward.
