2019 Scenic Mountain Triathlon:
Held in the Monongahela National Forest, the Scenic Mountain Triathlon is the longest running Triathlon in the state. Now in its 34th year, it is an event that has become a favorite of triathletes and spectators alike!
This year, USA Triathlon chose our race to designate it as WV Age Group and High School Championship races. As a result, the overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place high school male and female winners will be designated as WV High School Champions. The overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Adult male and female winners will be designated as WV Champions as well.
There is a greater chance of qualifying for Olympic Distance Age Group National Championships when competing in this race and finishing in the top 25% of your age group!
Packet pick-up at the Sterling Spencer Sculpture Garden, next to the Whistle Punk Grill and Taphouse, on Main Street (on the left), Sat., July 13, 2019 from 3-7PM. In inclement weather, registration will move into the restaurant.
Bike or run the course Saturday. However, no swimming is allowed at Summit Lake except during the actual Triathlon.
5 mm wet suits are allowed but flotation devices may NOT be used during the swim
Helmets are required during the bike. No drafting is allowed. Limited shuttle service will be provided back to Summit Lake for participants.
Parking lot and restrooms available at Summit Lake and Cranberry Mt. Nature Center.
Post race cook out and refreshments free for race participants. Spectators, please make a donation.
Course Information:
Swim: 0.5 mile in Summit Lake (cool water temperature)
Bike: 17.1 miles from Summit Lake to Cranberry Mountain Nature Center on State Route 39/55 (hard surface with hills)
Run: 6.2 miles from Nature Center to locked gate below Cranberry Glades and back (rolling terrain with varying surface)

Sunday, July 14th, 2019: 8:30 to 9:30 AM, Pre-Registered packet pick-up & late registration at Summit Lake, 10.3 miles East of Richwood (25 minutes).
