_ The 2019 Learning The Trails:
Learning the Trails: A Low-Cost four week course to make you a better trail runner.
Tripping over roots and rocks? Struggling on hills? Lost your shoe in the mud? This might be the class for you.
Learning The Trails will cover:
· Why run trails?
· Choosing a trail and trail safety
· Necessary gear
· Rocks, Roots, Logs, Mud, and other obstacles
· Hills. Climbing and descending
· Trail running with groups and races
· Trail etiquette
This course is designed to improve your trail running and help keep you safe. The training sessions will begin with a few minutes of lecture and discussion followed by short group runs. The runs will pause at different obstacles and challenges to discuss the proper way to successfully navigate them. Participants should be able to run a 5k without stopping. A goal for the program will be to have all runners comfortable running at least five miles on trails before Medved Madness on May 5th.
Classes will be instructed by Dave Farrands. He has run many trail races both locally and out of the area in many distances including ultramarathons. He is well known among local trail running groups and is always willing to help other runners on the trail. He is looking forward to helping others discover the fun and challenge of trail running. He will receive lots of help from Medved's awesome ambassadors.
Classes will be held on Mondays at Durand Eastman Park or Mendon Ponds Park. Be ready to run at 6:15 pm, regardless of weather. Please leave your earphones at home. Trail running shoes are strongly encouraged.
Schedule:
All other weeks will be at Durand Eastman Park or Mendon Ponds Park. Plan to run, regardless of weather.
Participants of this class will receive a t-shirt, store discounts, and lots of fun.
