_ The 2019 Against the Tide - Hopkinton:
Against the Tide is a family-friendly, multi-sport event to benefit the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC). MBCC is the only non-profit in the state dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer from environmental causes. The funds raised through Against the Tide help to support and expand our community education program Let’s Talk Prevention: Reducing Toxic Exposures, MBCC Webinar Series, and the newly-introduced environmental health program for high school students. We are grateful to all of you who help prioritize breast cancer prevention. Above and beyond your commitment to participate in the Against the Tide event, we hope that you will also fundraise on behalf of MBCC and our important mission to change the legacy of breast cancer for future generations.
Participants may register as individuals or enter as a team. You can choose to participate in one or more of the following event components:
- Competitive 1-mile Swim
- Aquathon 5K – Competitive 1-mile swim followed by 5K run
- Aquathon 10K – Competitive 1-mile swim followed by 10K run
- 5K Run (USA Track & Field certified)
- 10K Run (USA Track & Field certified)
- 3-mile Walk
- 1/2 Mile Stand-up Paddle Board
- Recreational 1/2 mile or 1-mile Swim
- Recreational 2 Mile Kayak
Registration fees:
- One event: Adults $40; Students $25*
- Two events: Adults $80; Students $50*
- Three events: Adults $120; Students $75*
- Four events: Adults $160; Students $100*
Children under 10 years old may participate for free.
* Student ID must be shown on the day of the event to qualify for the student discount.

7:00 AM -- Registration Opens. Please plan to visit the registration tent at least 1 hour in advance of the first event activity you will be participating in.
8:00 AM -- 1 mile Competitive Swim/Aquathon
8:00 AM -- USATF Certified 5K/10K Runs
8:05 AM -- 3 mile Walk
9:00 AM -- 1/2 mile Paddleboard
9:45 AM -- 1/2 mile and 1-mile Recreational Swims
10:45 AM -- 2-mile Kayak
11:30 AM -- Closing Ceremony
Course Information:
Against the Tide 5K and 10K feature a tree-lined, gently rolling course through DCR's beautiful Hopkinton State Park. The course is on paved-road and is USATF certified. Both the 5K and 10K are chip-timed.

Rte. I-495 (north or south) to exit 21A, Main Street Hopkinton. Travel on Main Street until the third traffic light located at the heart of downtown Hopkinton. Turn left, traveling North on Route 85. Proceed approximately 2 miles to the Hopkinton State Park entrance on the right (do not enter the Field Office on the left).

Mass Pike to Rte 9E Turnpike Road via Exit 23A toward Framingham. Take the RT-85S ramp toward Hopkinton / Milford. Turn slight right onto Cordaville Road / RT 85. Continue to follow Route 85. Hopkinton State Park entrance is on the left.
