_ The 2018  Tour de Gruene Individual Time Trial:

The 35th annual Tour de Gruene Bicycle Classic is the ORIGINAL River Road Cycling event founded in 1984. Surrounded by limestone cliffs and encircled by the Guadalupe River it’s hard to imagine a more scenic setting for hosting a weekend of tours and time trials. The Individual Time Trials are a competition. Racers start at least 30 seconds from the next competitor and then race down River Road completing a 19.9 mile course against the clock for awards in various gender, equipment, & age divisions. Entrants receive a supported race with law enforcement at critical intersections, showers, an Awards Ceremony, catered post ride meal entertained by the Tubameisters, and an admission ticket into the local Wurstfest festival for an evening of Bavarian entertainment and merriment. The field size is limited and we have sold out in the past so don’t delay and get your registration in today!

Tour de Gruene awards are presented during an awards dinner (dinner ticket included) in the Lazy L&L Dance Hall. Quantity of awards is dependent upon total entries per division -typically 3 places per division.

Hundreds of cyclists like to tent camp or camper/RV on site along the river at the Lazy L & L for the weekend. Come join us and enjoy the comradery of other like-minded cyclists. For more information: www.lazylandl.com If you prefer cabins and group villas there are other nearby river outfitters to choose from. A list is published on the website with distance from the host site.

No time like the present! Come race along scenic River Road, enjoy the charm and ambiance of the Lazy L & L, and head on over to Wurstfest for the German Festival. Additionally, plan some time to spend in historic Gruene. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is recognized by the Texas travel industry as a premiere attraction for visitors. The main focus of Gruene is bona fide Texas. Everything from the wares they sell to the music they play speaks to providing its guests with an experience that has the signature seal of the Lone Star State.

Many participants make it a family affair by encouraging family members to enter the Recreational Tours on Saturday morning (distances of 14, 28, 35 or 45). You can read more about those opportunities on our website.
