_ The 2019 Timberman Triathlon:

Races:
International: 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6 mile run  
Sprint: .3 mile (528 yards) swim, 11 mile bike, 3 mile run 
Super Sprint: .15 mile swim (264 yards), 5.5 mile bike 1.5 mile run (The Super Sprint is perfect for the first timer or younger athlete looking for a shorter race).

Teams (2 or 3 person) can participate in the International and Sprint races. The Super Sprint race is for individuals only.

The Timberman is a 100% volunteer run organization. The volunteer base consists of the race directors (Amy and Alan Dettmer), the race committee (30+ dedicated people), and the over 125 local citizens who help the race run smoothly. The race committee has many years of experience to help ensure a safe race.

The race starts and ends on the grounds of Sugar Lake Lodge. 
The swim is in the crystal clear, clean, turquoise waters of Sugar Lake. No swimmer’s itch from Sugar Lake! The bike is of rustic beauty using rural, county roads, most of which are newly paved. The relatively flat run course takes you through the resort and out and back on pavement with some gravel (International course) to the finish line. 

Rules
The Timberman Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT) and requires each participant to purchase his or her own one-day license or hold an annual membership in order to participate in the race. During registration, you will be directed to the USAT modal to enter your annual membership number or purchase a one-day or annual membership. For more information, please visit the USA Triathlon site, www.usatriathlon.org. All USA Triathlon/Duathlon competitive rules will be enforced.

USAT 1-Day License- 2018….$15/adults -Youth (17 & under) $10

Timing
Timing is conducted by JMS Racing Services. The event is chip timed and full split results will be posted on the JMS Racing Services website, https://jmsresults.com/results/. In 2017, JMS Racing Services timed over 55 running. triathlon, and duathlon races.


Awards
All participants receive a race cap, water bottle, food, and refreshments.

International and Sprint Race Individuals: Awards are given to 1st-3rd places in all age groups.  The awards change each year but are (awesome!) usable triathlon/sports related items. In 2017 age group awards were a messenger bag, a Gear West “keg” for the water bottle cage, and a phone holder. Overall male, female and Masters (age 40+) male and female receive a special award. In 2017 overall winners received Continental race tires.

Age groups (per USAT): 0-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+ 
Race age corresponds to your age on December 31, 2018.

International and Sprint Race Teams: Each person (2 or 3 people) on the first place team in the men’s, women’s, and coed divisions will receive first place awards. The awards change each year but are usable triathlon/sports related items. 

Super Sprint: The top-5 overall male and females will be awarded a medal in the Super Sprint race. No teams in the Super Sprint race-only individuals.

Fastest local male and female in the International and Sprint races will be recognized. Local is defined as a person with residence in Itasca County.
