_ The 2018 Naples Island Swim and SUP:

The Naples Island Swim & SUP is an open water swimming and stand up paddle board competition featuring seven races of differing lengths. The events span from a 200-yard swim for 7 & * year-olds to a 3-mile swim and 6-mile stand up paddle that circumnavigate Naples Island, for those 13 years and older. Los Alamitos Bay is no stranger to open water swimming competition. In 2010 Marine Stadium played host to both the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships and the Pan Pacific Championships open water competition. It is the training ground for many local athletes. The Naples Island Swim & SUP is an annual opportunity for the City of Long Beach, known as the Aquatic Capital of America, to showcase its leading position as a destination for aquatic competition.

Proceeds from the Naples Island Swim & SUP event benefit the Aquatic Capital of America, a 501(c)(3) organization

established in 2008 to promote the myriad of aquatic activities offered in Long Beach; to recognize, honor and support the City of Long Beach and its aquatic athletes and organizations; improve and increase local aquatic facilities and promote water safety and education.

The ACOA also supports community and regional efforts to raise awareness about water quality and the reduction of pollution on our beaches and in our local waterways.

A portion of the 2018 Event proceeds will be directed to Algalita Marine Research and Education to support their work with local area schools to improve Environmental Education as well as their efforts to reduce plastic pollution in Alamitos Bay and along our beaches.

We are working to reduce paper and plastic waste at our event.
We are trying to make our event more efficient, reduce wait times and reduce plastic and paper waste. By registering online early, you are helping us meet our goal. To meet this goal, we will not have any Race Day entries or paper entries. In 2017 we were able to reduce Race Day paper entries by 75%. In 2018, we want to have 100% on-line entries with zero paper waste.
