_ The 2019 Freeze Your Half Off:

What's better than running by yourself? Running with a bunch of crazy fun people, that's what! Spend your Saturday morning and/or Sunday morning running or walking along the beautiful Tennessee River, with a bunch of the funnest runners you've ever met.

For FULL details, visit our website:  https://runawesomesauce.com/a/races/freeze-your-half-off/

Please read ALL information before signing up so you know what you're getting yourself into!

The course is mostly flat, some small inclines/declines, on a paved path that meanders by the Tennessee River, behind the campus of Chattanooga State to the Chickamauga Dam, passing playgrounds and restrooms with toilets that flush.

Yep, you read that right, toilets that flush and sinks with running water and soap in heated buildings. Is this a runner's dream or what?

You will pass the start/finish/aid station area multiple times throughout the race. This means you're welcome to leave a drop bag to access your own personal goodies and you can shed layers as you warm up. This is also a good place to reapply sunscreen, address any potential issues such as blisters, and eat and drink to your heart's content! Marathoners pass the start/finish/aid nine times, half marathoners pass it four times, 10K passes twice, 5K passes once. You are never more than three miles from this area.

All races are super low-key and non-competitive; we'd prefer to race you vs. you, not you vs. anyone else. Our races are more like large group runs than typical road races. If you want a competitive, mainstream race, there are tons to choose from. That's just not who we are. If you are a slower runner, a walker, a first-timer, or someone who is intimidated by regular races, we have a welcoming atmosphere focused on having fun and reaching your goals. You'll have a hard time finding a more supportive atmosphere than at an Awesomesauce Events race!

NOTE! If you want to run a half marathon on Saturday and a half marathon on Sunday, you have to register for them as individual races. If you want to run the marathon distance on a single day, we call that the double half. (This event has always been Freeze Your HALF Off, and we just couldn't bear to change the name. Also, the course is measured as a half marathon, with three laps of the west side of the course and two laps of the east side, so we've set it up as a double half marathon not only so we can get your half marathon split time, but also so you can cover the correct distance!)

There is a time limit of 8 hours for all races. There will be an optional 1 hour early start for marathoners/double half marathoners, which then gives you up to 9 hours, because that's how math works. Understand that if you take the early start, we may have to adjust the order you do each side of the course, as one side has a locked gate that may or may not be open by the time you get to it. The aid station may not be fully set up during the early start period.

Your registration fee includes:
- entry into the race distance of your choosing
- online results
- a toasty warm hat (we do NOT do t-shirts as a swag item; shirts are available for purchase)
- a mug "medal" (which will be pre-washed so you can fill it up with the weather-dependent food from the all-you-can-eat post-race buffet - homemade chili and soup if it's cold, all-you-can-eat cereal and yogurt parfaits if it's not.) Due to ordering restrictions and shipping delays around the holidays, mug medals CANNOT be guaranteed if you register after December 15th.
- The most epic aid station setup you've ever seen including Gatorade, water, Gu, fruit, candy, cookies, chips, pickles and pickle juice, and tons of other goodies.

Because the weather is so unpredictable in the Tennessee Valley in January, we'll keep you posted with the post-race food offerings the week of the race. If it's as cold as it was in 2015 and 2018, we'll have chili and soups with cornbread and baguettes (vegetarians, we promise we'll have you covered!), hot chocolate and coffee. If it's warmer, we'll go with the cereal and yogurt parfait buffet.

Packet pickup is from 8am - 9am on Saturday and Sunday ONLY. If you are taking the early start option, your race bibs will be available before 8am.

Shirts are NOT included in your race fee; we don't give out "included in your fee" race shirts as a general rule, because there are too many people who don't want a shirt, or would prefer a tank top or a hoodie or something else. As is tradition with this race, shirts, tank tops, hoodies, and other swag are available for pre-purchase during registration. Shirt pre-orders will close on December 18th. We will order a limited amount of extras that can be purchased on race day, but we cannot promise that we will have the shirt size/type that you'd prefer so we suggest that you order ahead of time.

We also accept donations of old shoes to be given to the homeless via the Community Kitchen. We've collectively donated over 1,000 pairs of shoes over the years!

As with any other race put on by any other company, registration fees and add-on fees are final and are not refundable or transferable for any reason. Please don't ask, it makes our race director cry when she has to say no. We spend a lot of time and money preparing for every runner, and the money spent on you, in many cases, cannot be recouped by us. If you pre-order a shirt or other swag item and do not pick it up on race weekend, these items may be shipped to you for an additional cost or you can arrange to have someone pick it up on race weekend. The races will go on rain, snow, or shine, unless the park service prohibits us from having a race. We have run in sub-freezing temperatures and temperatures in the 90s, so don't expect a cancellation for extreme temps!
