_ The 2018 0.5K Dalton:

Here's the original Texas event we're emulating.    Join your fellow underachievers for a day (actually more like 10 minutes) of glory and celebration to raise money for the 2018 413Heart Music & Arts Festival in August.

This Inaugural Dalton 0.5k will be held at 11 am on July 21, 2018 along Main Street.

This will be a fun, tongue-in-cheek event that will lampoon the typical 5k.

Here are the details!

• The um, "Run" will start at the driveway to the First Congregational Church.  Conveniently, John Kelly has provided a beer tasting before the start of the race, so get there early.  Yay beer! The formidable Kas Maroney will guide you through stretching exercises so that you will participate at your very best level.
• Rather than using a starting pistol, a Wahconah cheerleader atop a pyramid formation will pop a big balloon.
• The um, "Race", will then amble westward along Main Street (exactly 0.5K) to the CRA lawn where you will finish in a blaze of glory.
• We will then head to the Shire Brew Hous to relive the experience, brag to our friends, take selfies to post on social media "I DID IT!!!  I'M A FINISHER!!  LOOK AT ME!!!"  Conveniently, SBH has offered all participants a free beer at the end of the race.  Yay beer!

Goodies and Fun Stuff!

• All finishers will receive a pretentious oval Euro-style 0.5k sticker that you can attach to your rear windshield to show everyone what a badass you are.
• Coffee (poured by Currency Coffee), donuts (provided by Tyler & Pine) and a Fire Cider hydration station at the halfway point for carb-loading and energy
• This will also be where the designated smoking area is.
• Finish line photo ops
• Individual and group costumes - cool sunglasses, cowboy hats, short shorts, spurs gear, pajamas, you name it.Come dressed for fun!
• Medical staff (real off-duty nurse Kelley Cain and not-so-real nurse Lynn Arseneau as Miss Cookie Crumple!)
• The race is being sanctioned by SLACR, the Society for Lazy and Carefree Runners.
• Awards Presentation at CCB
• Much, much, much more (as we think of things.)

VIP Option

• Don't feel like running? Don't think you can make it the full 546 yards? Then you should be a VIP.
• For an additional $25, you don't even have to run! How awesome is that?!
• The official Dalton 0.5k shuttle service is provided by a pair of golf carts from Wahconah Country Club, sponsored by Currency Coffee. If you don't want to walk over to the Breu Hous, we'll shuttle you!
• You still get the free beer at both locations, and the oval window sticker!
• If you're part of a team, sign up together and make your appearance a team effort.
