_ The 2019 Surf City Escape Triathlon:
The Olympic distance Surf City Escape Triathlon will begin with a challenging 1-mile swim in the Pacific Ocean, entering through the same beach break as the world renowned U.S. Open of Surfing. Triathletes will swim along the shoreline with the backdrop of the world famous Huntington Beach Pier. A 12-mile, double-loop bike course will then take athletes along the breathtaking Pacific Coast Highway. Showcasing the Pacific Ocean coastline the entire ride, the entire course is flat and fast. Coveted road closures along Pacific Coast Highway will allow athletes plenty of room for a safe fast ride and for spectators to capture all the action. The final 6.2-mile run will turn up the challenge as it takes athletes on to the pristine beach for a deep sand run then back to the spectator-friendly beachfront start/transition/finish.
The 2019 race will close out the 2018-2019 Escape Series Qualifying process with valuable slots being awarded to the top finishers in each age group to the 2019 Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco. Chosen by many as the most iconic triathlon in the world today, the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon is the ultimate bucket list event for any endurance athlete.
