The TriByKnight Triathlon, now in its seventh year, was the first triathlon in the Waverly area and already is one of the most popular early season events in the region. This USAT-sanctioned sprint tri (300-yard swim, 15-mile bike, 3.1-mile run) is perfect for those just getting started in the sport. The event, staged on the Wartburg College campus, features a time-trial pool start in The Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center’s state-of-the-art Schuldt Natatorium.
The 300 yard swim will be held in the Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center Pool, with the time trial start beginning at 9 a.m. The W pool is a six-lane pool filled with warm clean water. It is supervised by lifeguards and guaranteed to be free from the things lurking beneath most open-water swims. Swimmers will share a single start point and will begin their swim in standard intervals. Participants will swim up and back in each lane, working their way across the pool in serpentine fashion, swimming a total of 300 yards and exit at a single exit point.
The 15-mile bike ride will be a loop course. The course gently rolls out into scenic and friendly Midwest farm country.
The 5K run will be on a hard surfaced trail. The course will take you through the amazing Wartburg campus. There will be an aid station on the course.
Wartburg College is centrally located between most of the major metropolitan areas of the Midwest in Waverly, Iowa, a community of 10,000 residents within the Cedar Valley metro area of about 150,000 people. Located on “The Avenue of the Saints” (Highway 27/218) that connects Minneapolis/St. Paul to St. Louis, Waverly is easily accessible.
