_ The 2018 Race on the Rock Triathlon:

Welcome to the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, a part of the Ashley National Forest in Rock Springs, Wyoming.  Race on the Rock Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike, and Aquathlon is in its fifth year. We are the only USAT Sanctioned Event in the State of Wyoming.

The race this year will feature and open water swim and a closed bike and run course. The scenery is amazing and you will enjoy the challenge of racing at about 6300ft.

We are a smaller race, pretty low key we are all about fun. We broadcast the race live on the internet, everyone gets the race shirt, finishers do get a medal, we do have goodie bags, and we have a special award to present each year called the Crompton/Shockey award for spirit. Both Jason Crompton and Marvin Shockey were well known triathletes and both were huge supporters of this race.  Sadly they both passed away in accidents prior to our 2016 race.

This swim is wet suit legal and the morning termperatures could be near 50-degrees, by the end of the race the temperatures usually are in the low 80's.

The race proceeds are donated to the Rock Springs Professional Firefighters who are sponsors of this event.

If you are looking for a race to close out your summer and have a desire to see some of the most beautiful scenery in the world - Yellowstone is just 3 hours away - Come join us for a great, fun, low key race in Wyoming!!

Course Information:

The Flaming Gorge National Reservoir feeds a dam approximately 90 miles south of the race. You may feel some current in the water, but generally there is very little chop and usually no wave

The exit from the in water start is the boat ramp which will be covered. The transition area is in the parking lot which is concrete I will do my best to sweep any gravel present before the race. There are restrooms in the parking lot of the transition area.

The bike course and run course will both be on County Rd 33 which will be closed for the race.

Mass swim starts five minutes apart depending on the race starting at 7am
