_ The 39th Annual Woodson YMCA Triathlon:

Our popular triathlon race is coming back to Sunny Vale Park in Wausau. The Wausau Triathlon (Long, Short and Mini Tri Courses) begins at 8:00 am on Saturday, August 4th, 2018. 

Participants may register for one of the following:

Long Course: 1000 yard swim, 28 mile bike and 6.2 mile run

Short Course:  400 yard swim, 17 mile bike and 3.1 mile run

Mini Tri Course:  200 yard swim, 9.2 mile bike and 2 mile run  *Individual Only*

Entry fee includes event shirt, chip timing, post-race lunch and professional sports massage.  Must be 16 years and older for long and short course.  Must be 12 years and older for mini tri course.  

Back for 2018:  Finisher medals for all participants!

Championship Heat:  Individual Long & Short Course participants only.  Top 15 placing in 2017 Wausau Triathlon or comparable triathlon.  Championship Long Course limited to 30 participants.  Championship Short Course limited to 25 participants.

REGISTRATION

To guarantee shirt size, registration must be received by July 1, 2018.  Registrations received after July 1, 2018 will receive shirt sizes based upon availability.  Pre-registered t-shirts may be exchanged for a different size on race day based on availability.  Exchanges will only be done after the event is completed.

Registration fee increases after July 13, 2018 at 12:00am.  All registration confirmations will be emailed.  Registration (online, in person and mailed) ends at 12:00pm on August 3, 2018. 

NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE ALLOWED.

TEAMS

Relay teams for Long and Short Course only.  Each team member can be on only ONE team. 

Please send team entries together.  Separate registration form and signature required for each team member.

Mini Tri Course is for individual participation only, no teams.

RACE ROUTES

Race maps will be available online at www.woodsonymca.com starting in June 2018. 

Race maps are subject to change due to road construction.  Please review the map in your race bag the day of the event.

AWARDS

Finisher Medal for all participants!

Awards will be given to the first overall M/F winners for the Long & Short Course, and the top 3 M/F individual finishers in each age category for the Long & Short Course. 

Individual Participant Age Groups:  19 & Under, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60 & over

Team awards will be given to the top 3 teams for the Long & Short Course. 

Mini Tri Course participants will receive finisher medals only.

Recognition awards given to 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 & 35 consecutive year participants.

Award ceremony to be held after the race by the DJ at the finish line.  Awards must be picked up on race day, they will not be mailed - NO EXCEPTIONS.

CHARITABLE PURPOSE

The Woodson YMCA’s Triathlon is an annual fundraiser for World Services and for area youth scholarships.

Event details and schedule

WHAT TO BRING

Suggested Items:  swimsuit (tri-suit), towel, goggles/face mask, frame pump, spare tube, bike wrench (know how to change a flat tire), 2 filled water bottles for biking, biking & running clothes, sunglasses, running shoes, sunscreen and Vaseline.

Drinking Water:  The park does not have a drinking water source so make sure to bring plenty of water with you to Sunny Vale!

WETSUITS

Participants are allowed to wear wetsuits.

SAFETY

Bike helmets are MANDATORY for all participants on the bike course.

All participants must be able to competently complete the swim portion of the race without assistance.  Float belts will be allowed for Mini-Tri participants only.

Spectators requiring handicapped parking must arrive prior to 8:00am.  In order to ensure the safety of athletes, volunteers and medical personnel, vehicles are not allowed to enter the park after the event has started.

COMPLIMENTARY BIKE CHECK

Provided by Trek Bicycle Store.  Available Saturday, August 4th between 6:00 - 7:30am at Sunny Vale Park in the transition area.

MANDATORY PRE-RACE MEETING

Saturday, August 4th at 7:30am in Sunny Vale Park by the finish line for all participants. 

START TIME

Race starts promptly at 8:00am, the Championship Long Course heat will be first.  (See Heat Sheet provided in race bag for a list of approximate start times for each heat.)

POST RACE

Lunch provided for race participants and volunteers. 

Free professional sports massage for race participants. 

Award ceremony to be held after the race by the DJ at the finish line.  Awards must be picked up on race day, they will not be mailed - NO EXCEPTIONS. 

All participants will be entered to win raffle prizes, must be present to win!
