_ The 2018 Marquette University Indoor Triathlon:
Marquette University's Human Performance Assessment Core (HPAC) will host its 2nd annual indoor triathlon.
The race:
**Road/tri bikes will fit. Thru-axles and mountain bikes will not fit. Hybrids will likely not fit.
Event details and schedule
Parking info: 16th street parking structure is secure, easy to use, and available for only $3 on Saturdays. The lot is on the left side of 16th street (one way, going north) between Wisconsin Ave. and Wells St. *Note: street parking is mainly 2 hours so the lot might be your best bet.
Parking structure address: 749 N. 16th Street. Cost: $5 (via a voucher purchased at registration).
Schedule: Waves every 40 minutes. Start time 7AM. Plan to arrive about 1+ hrs before your wave starts. Waves assigned at least 3 days prior to the event (right after registration closes) or sooner. You will be emailed wave information.
Arrival procedure: Sign in (USAT ID required). Sign HPAC waiver then go to bike check in (Cramer 050).
ID: Show USAT license checked at registration. You must show this ID (physical copy or even a screen shot of your USAT ID/membership phone app) to the registration table to race!
Flow of event:
Check in – Cramer basement level (1hr+ before start)
Swim- rec center, bring swimsuit, TOWEL(!), change of clothes. A warm up lane will be available at all times. Post swim, change and then walk over to Cramer Hall 010 where the bikes will be. A volunteer will help you get your bike from transition and set up on the trainers.
Bike- Cramer Hall 010. Bring sweat towel, fluids, and make sure your bike does not have very heavy treads or knobby tires. These are not compatible with the computrainer.
Run- Meet near the check in table. Run starts outside of Cramer hall for 3 loops on the Marquette Mile.
This event is USAT sanctioned! It's a qualifier for Age Group Nationals. So dust off the racing flats and get ready for this sprint race.
Swim- 500 yd; Bike- 16.09 km (10 miles) via lab grade computrainer; Run- 4.83 km (3 miles) outside
Mark Caballero, M.S. is a USA Triathlon certified Level 1 coach, Youth and Junior coach, and race director and an elite performance specialist at Marquette University. He has partnered with his colleagues to put on an indoor triathlon, presented by the Human Performance Assessment Core (mu.edu/hpac). A huge benefit is that the swim (pool), bike (inside the labs on a computrainer) and run (outside) starts are all within 2 blocks! Please contact Mark at [email protected] with any questions.
