Other : Andrew's Pins for a Purpose |
Andrew was a handsome and bright little boy who brought joy and happiness to everyone around him. Tragically, on July 23, 2009, at the age of 2 1/2 years old, Andrew died while taking a nap. We are left with no answers as to why our precious son died. His death was ruled sudden unexplained death in childhood (SUDC), which occurs when an apparently healthy child beyond the age of 12 months dies without warning and without a known cause.
Soon after our loss we learned of The SUDC Foundation which provided us with crucial support services, information and access to research. Being able to talk to others who have experienced SUDC helped us to not feel so alone.
We created Andrew's Pins for a Purpose to honor the memory of Andrew, raise awareness of sudden unexplained death in childhood (SUDC), and work toward a future without SUDC. To date we have raised over $77,000, these funds were put to excellent use by helping fund SUDC research, increase awareness about SUDC and bring support to families experiencing this tragedy around the world. Andrew's Pins for a Purpose will take place on January 28, 2018, at the Glen Burnie Bowl, Glen Burnie, Maryland. We hope that you'll join us in our efforts.
