_ 2018 Powerman Michigan Duathlon:
Beautiful Frankenmuth, Michigan serves as the backdrop for this duathlon, formerly Powerman Michigan. Frankenmuth is a top tourist destination in Michigan with plenty to see and do for the entire family, including enjoying the Bavarian Inn’s hospitality. Known as “Michigan’s Little Bavaria,” Frankenmuth receives over 3 million visitors each year. Home to the world’s largest Christmas store, Bronners, open year round. This event features a multi-loop format with aid station and transition area at the same location, making this super-fast and super-exciting for friends, family and spectators.
The top three athletes in each aged-up age group will qualify for the 2019 ITU Long-Distance Duathlon World Championship. The 2019 World Championship will occur in Zofingen, Switzerland. Qualified athletes will receive an email from USA Triathlon within two weeks after the Powerman Michigan event.
Age-Up Rule:
At Powerman Michigan, athletes will race in their appropriate age groups based on their age as of Dec. 31, 2018. Awards will be issued based on those results. If an athlete "ages up" into another age group in 2019, a separate set of results will be issued accounting for those athletes who aged up and Team USA slots will be awarded based on these results. So their finish time will be compared to those athletes in the older age group. For example, if John Doe is going to be 49 years old by Dec. 31, 2018, he will age-up up into the 50-54 age group for the 2019 World Championships since he will be 50 years old by Dec. 31, 2019. Thus, for Team USA qualifying purposes, his time at the qualification event will be compared to the men currently in the 50-54 age group.
Located behind the River Place Shops. We have designed an incredible spectator friendly course that will bring the true essence of the run - bike - run format and one of the best venues in the United States. With a cross-country style start mixed with a road course that will take you down main street and through the covered bridge.
The bike course is going to bring you back by the finish line and run courses looping around right in front of friends, family and spectators with the aid station right there as well. This will make for both exciting racing as well as spectating!
