Join us for the 6th Annual Iron Girl Pleasant Prairie women's triathlon & duathlon at Prairie Springs Park.

Iron Girl aspires to bring women of all ages together as a community by offering a supportive, energetic and empowering environment for females pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle. 

Amenities include: a post-race café, professional timing, personalized race bibs, new custom finishers medals,  age group awards, performance shirts sized just for women, post-race giveaways and more.

Transfer & Refund Policies

All participant entries are non-transferable and non-refundable. You may not transfer or sell your race number to another person and we do not offer deferrals to events in the next season or another event in the series.

USAT Age Up Rule

All USAT races, including the Iron Girl, will use the "Age Up Rule" for award distribution and ranking. The age up rule means you are racing based on your age as of 12/31/2017. This action aligns regular U.S. age group racing with the method used by USA Triathlon for its National Rankings Program

All participants are expected to attend packet pick up Saturday in person. This is due insurance liability mandates. All participants must show a photo ID, and all USAT annual members additionally must show their membership card. Per USAT rules, each participant must pick up their own packet. NO EXCEPTIONS. A unique wristband will be affixed at this time which must remain on through to the end of the race.

Special notice to participants in regard to USAT Membership for Registration

Participants MUST bring proof of annual membership or purchase a one-day permit. Athletes who do not bring/show proof of membership must purchase a one-day OR will not be allowed to race. If you purchased the one day license when you registered, your name will be on a list we have and you do not need to bring anything other than photo ID.

Participants who forget their USAT membership cards will have four options:

Competitive Wave - The Iron Girl Competitive Wave has been created for our more experienced athletes looking to really push themselves this year. This group will be seeded in Wave 1 and will compete for top 3 overall. The recommended finishing time to our Competitive Wave athletes is 1:50:00. Please note: Athletes registered in the competitive wave will not be eligible for Age group awards. There will be awards for the Top 3 Competitive athletes.

Race Talk at the Expo
We will have two course talks on Saturday, August 11, Noon and 3:00 p.m. to attend to get the latest event information, directions and more. The course talk is not mandatory, but will help make a difference in sorting out race day.

Packet Pick-up and Bike Racking Rules
You must pick up your packet and rack your bike on Saturday at the expo. Please email  if you are unable to pick up your packet on Saturday.

Event Day Information
Early arrival is recommended to allow time for you to park, walk to transition and get ready for a terrific race day. Transition will open at 5:00 a.m. and will be closed at 6:30 a.m. Please arrive early for race morning. We will have a prompt race start at 7:00 a.m. Athlete wristbands will allow you in and out of transition.

 

Course Information

Sprint Distance: 1/2 mile swim/ 12 mile bike/ 3.1 mile run

SWIM COURSE:
The swim will take place in the beautiful Lake Andrea, spring fed lake.

BIKE COURSE:
Enjoy the bike course as it travels through Prairie Springs Park. The course will be well marked and volunteers to direct you.

RUN COURSE: The run course will run through Prairie Springs Park. The course will be well marked and volunteers to help let you know where the turn arounds are. Water will be on the course.

Strollers, Inline Skates, Rollerblades, Headphones and Dogs Not Allowed On Course. For the safety of all participants, strollers, inline skates, rollerblades, headphones and dogs are not allowed on the course at any time.

 

Swim Wave Starts
Iron Girl participants are assigned swim waves based on their age on 12/31/2018. Swim waves are made up of approximately 80-100 swimmers and will start every 4-5 minutes. Swim wave times will be announced 2-3 weeks before the event date. Participant swim wave times will be noted on individual packets.

Competitive Wave - The Iron Girl Competitive Wave has been created for our more experienced athletes looking to really push themselves this year. Buddy Wave - Participants wishing to swim with a friend or family member may elect to start in a Buddy Wave. The Buddy Waves will be the last waves. Please note that Iron Girl triathlons are USAT sanctioned events and Iron Girl participants who start in a Buddy Wave will be ineligible for age group awards. All Buddy Wave participant times will still be posted and all finishers will receive a medal on race day! 

 

Wet suits Rules
USAT RULE Article IV Swimming Conduct
4.4 Wet suits. Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit.

Please note we will do an official water temperature reading on race morning.

 

 

Relay Information
Relay team members may pick up assigned packets individually. Relays will not be permitted to pick-up packets for fellow team members. Each relay team member will be required to sign their own individual waiver.

Relay teams will transfer the timing chip and ankle strap at the designated “Relay Pen” next to transition. The timing chip is the "baton" and you must handoff the timing chip to move forward to the next team member. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Swim to Bike - Bike shall not be removed from bike rack until chip is properly transferred and attached to the next teammate.
Bike to Run - Chip may not be removed until the Bike is properly racked in the designated spot.
Run to Finish – Relay team members may join the runner at the finish and cross the finish line together.

 

Medals

All finishers will receive a custom Iron Girl medal.

 

Age Group Awards

We will have 12 age groups: under 17; 18 - 24; 25 - 29; 30 - 34; 35 - 39; 40 - 44; 45 - 49; 50 - 54; 55 - 59; 60 - 64; 65 - 69; 70 +

You must be 16 years or older to participate in the triathlon.

Triathlon: The first Overall winner and the top three in each Age Group will be presented with an award.

Duathlon: The first Overall winner and the top three in each age Group will be presented with an award.

Relay Teams: The first Overall 2 person relay team and first overall 3 person relay team will be presented with an award.

Winners must be present to receive award. 

 

 

Weather Information

Enjoy the August summer with a triathlon event at Prairie Springs Park. The average air temperature during this time is  70 degrees. Water temperatures for the lake along the shore is usually in 70 to 80 degrees in the summer. Water temps will be updated race week and again on race morning.
