_ The 2018 Lake Thunderbird Long Course and Youth Aquathlons:
Welcome to the Tri-OKC Lake Thunderbird Aquathlons
This year, the fifth year of our races here at Lake Thunderbird in Norman, in addition to the middle distance and long course aquathlons we are also hosting two USAT Youth Aquathlon National Series Races, one for ages 7-10 and one for ages 11-15.
In addiiton, the Middle-Distance Course 1000m swim/5 mile run is also the 2017 Tri-OKC High School Aquathlon Championship race.
USAT Youth Aquahlon:
Located at the Thunderbird Boathouse on the shores of the City of Norman's Lake Thunderbird, this year's event is a part of the USAT National Youth Splash-n-Dash Series.
Youth aged 7-10 will race a 100m open water swim in the bay overlooked by the boathouse, and then run a 1km course.
Youth aged 11-15 will race a 200m open water swim, followed by a 2 km run.
This event will be held in conjunction with the Tri-OKC Adult middle and long course Aquathlons, so why not make it a family day at the races?
MIDDLE-DISTANCE: The 1005.
A 1000 yard open water swim followed by a 5 mile scenic and unduating run on the roads and trails of Lake Thunderbird State Park. This race is also the Tri-OKC High School Aquathlon Championship.
LONG-DISTANCE: The 2010.
A 2000 yard open water swim followed by a scenic and undualting ten mile run on the roads and trails of Lake Thunderbird State Park.
All events are sactioned with USAT, both Certified lifeguards and course marshals will be at all our events.

RACE-DAY SCHEDULE:
6:45 am: Race H/Q Open for packet pickup:
7:00 am: transition open.
7:15 athlete meeting for all adult races.
7:30am Long Course start.
8:00am Middle Distance Start
approx 10:30 awards for adult races.
USAT YOUTH AQUATHLON SERIES
LAKE THUNDERBIRD YOUTH AQUATHLON
Two categories:
ages 7-10: 100m swim/1km run
ages 11-15: 200m swim/2km run
11:45am YOUTH RACE START.
LOCATION for all races:
LAKE THUNDERBIRD BOATHOUSE
location is 3/4 mile into the Lake Thunderbird State Park in Norman, OK.
Address for partk entrance and Rangers' Station:
13101 Alameda Drive, Norman, OK. 73026
Follow the road into the park, after the first major bend in the road, look for the signpost for Lake Thunderbird Boathouse on your right.
PARKING: There is adequate free parking at the venue. Watch for runners on the road as you enter the park please.
WHAT TO BRING:
1. Your ID, and USAT membership card if you have one.
2. Goggles, towel, swim suit (or tri-kit)
3. socks & running shoes
4. suncreen
Any drinks and snacks you might want.
Gatorade and water will be provided on course, GU will be available on the middle and long course.
Course information:
The swim will be in a protected bay of Lake Thunderbird. It will be a triangle course that will keep the partipicants close to the shoreline, but all participants should be competent to swim the distance of their race without assistance.
The run course will be a scenic and undulating out and back course, with one significant hill.
The Thunderbird Boathouse and dock offer waterside viewing for friends and family. Seating, toilets and showers are available. The awards ceremony will be in the building.
