Kick off your New Year with the Frosty Freestyle and Krazy Klassic Ski Weekend! Brought to you by Epic Races in partnership with Huron Meadows Metropark and Team NordicSkiRacer, this weekend of cross-country races allows you enjoy the natural beauty of Huron Meadows while skiing through the scenic parklands towards the finish line. With guaranteed snow — Huron Meadows makes snow for cross-country enthusiasts — and distances ideal for both first-time ski racers and experienced Nordic ski competitors, the Frosty Ski Fest is a fabulous way to bring wonder to your winter!

Course Information:

REI Frosty Freestyle 5K Course: The 5K (3.12-mile) ski course starts near the Ski Center and runs clockwise near the North Loop (Loop 1) before finishing back at the Ski Center. The North Loop is relatively open and flat. There are a few gentle hills and turns to keep it interesting. The course will have both a skating lane and classic tracks.

REI Frosty Freestyle 15K Course: The 15K course (9.3 miles) starts near the Ski Center and runs clockwise around around three unique loops, all starting and ending at the Ski Center. The race first heads around the North Loop (Loop 1), a relatively open and flat trail. There are a few gentle hills and turns to keep it interesting. Upon returning to the Ski Center, head south on the South Loop (Loop 2), which adds a few challenging hills into the mix. Upon returning to the Ski Center, head back out onto the West Loop (Loop 3). Much of this section is in the woods, with some steep dips and climbs and a couple of fast turns. The West Loop is also a little narrower, making passing a bit harder. The finish line is back at the Ski Center. This course will have both a skating lane and classic tracks.

Krazy Klassic 12K Course: The 12K classic course is in the South Trail System (south of Hammel Road). This race features a time-trial start: racers start two at a time every 15 seconds and do three laps clockwise around a single 4K loop. The route is mostly in the woods, with rolling terrain and one short but steep downhill. The course will be double tracked. This is a classic-only race; there is no skating lane and no skating is allowed.
