_ The 2018 Triumph Iron Relay:

Best in the West Events and the Corvallis Triathlon Club bring you a one of a kind triathlon event that is a fun way to for families, groups of friends, age-groupers, and die-hard athletes alike to enjoy a weekend-long multi-sport relay event. The Triumph Iron Relay covers the distance of a full or half Iron-distance triathlon, however it is broken up over a weekend into a relay. Each leg concludes with a social event at a different venue each day. The swim is at Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis, the bike is at Emerson Vineyards in Monmouth, and the run is in Corvallis at Brandis Farms. Free camping is available for racers and their families at Brandis Farms Friday-Monday.

​Participants complete any portion of the event distance they choose, from a single individual doing the whole thing up to a team with a maximum number of 10 individuals and a maximum of 5 on any given leg of the event. By the conclusion of the weekend, each team has completed the equivalent of an Iron or Half-Iron distance triathlon.

Course Information:

Swim

6pm Friday 
Full: 2.4mile/3.8km swim (38laps x100m)
Half: 1.2mile/1.9km swim (19laps x 100m)

Osborn Aquatic Center

The setup will be 2 teams per lane, 1 swimmer at a time, so teams can split the lane. Total distance is 3800m for the full and 1900m for the half.

Each team may have up to a maximum of 5 people complete the swim, broken up into as many as 38 laps for the half and 19 laps for the half. The only requirement is that the team collectively swims the complete distance with exchanges being made at the pool wall.

Swim cut off time: 2 hours 30 minutes

Bike

8am Saturday
Full: 112 mile bike (10 x 11.2 mile laps)
Half: 56 mile bike (5 x 11.2 mile laps)

Emerson Vineyards
11665 Airlie Rd, Monmouth, OR 97361

​The bike leg is 11.2 miles out and back from Emerson Vineyard. The bike will be completed by 1 to 5 people per team, arranged any way you choose provided it is in complete laps (i.e., no exchanges halfway through a lap). The route is in the beautiful Willamette valley north of Corvallis. The start/exchange/end point is the Emerson Vineyard.

Through out the day there is a social event on the grounds of the vineyard. There will be food, beverages, and music in a family friendly environment.

Bike cut off time: 4pm - 7am early start available

 

Run

9am Sunday
Full: 26.2 mile run (10 x 2.6 mile laps)
Half: 13.1 mile run (5 x 2.6 mile laps)

Brandis Farm
NW Oak Creek Drive, Corvallis, OR (address will be provided in the pre-race email)

​The run course is an approximately 2.62 mile lap on a mix of paved pedestrian paths, grass, dirt and trails in Bald Hill Natural Area, a county park adjacent to the Bald Hill Farm. Trail shoes are recommended. The start/exchange/finish area will be on the a private farm property adjacent to the natural area. The 10 or 5 laps can be distributed among 5 team members.

Starting 1pm or when most teams have finished the run, there will be a big BBQ on the grounds of the farm along with awards.
