The 2017 Ridgewood Try a Tri for Hospice (www.triforhospice.com) is a great pool-swim triathlon. The event will take place at the Ridgewood Swim and Tennis Club, located in Guilford County, just outside of Greensboro, NC.  Thanks to our generous sponsors, 100% of your race entry fee will go directly to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. The race begins with a 200-meter swim; athletes then will transition to a rolling 10-mile bike and finish with an out and back rolling 2-mile run in the Ridgewood neighborhood. If you are new to the sport of triathlon or looking for a short, fast course, this is the event for you!

Course Information:

Swim: The swim is a 200-meter pool swim at the Ridgewood Swim and Tennis Club, 808 James Doak Parkway, Greensboro, NC 27455. Participants start at one side of the pool and snake their way up one lane and down the next (one-way traffic in each lane) as they work towards the other side of the pool.

Participants must submit an estimated 100-meter swim time when registering. These times are used for seeding purposes and it is in your best interest to submit a time as accurate as possible. Submitting a time that is not accurate could have you impeding faster swimmers behind you or force you to pass other slower swimmers. Proper swim seed times will make the entire swim portion of the race flow smoothly.

Swim caps will not be provided. If you would like to wear a swim cap, then be sure to bring your own.

Bike: The bike course is one 10-mile loop. The course is rolling and begins in the Ridgewood neighborhood and continues on the rural roads of Guilford County. The roads are open to traffic and all athletes MUST wear a properly secured helmet at all times while riding their bike.

Run: The 2-mile run course is an out (on the sidewalk) and back (on the road) in the Ridgewood neighborhood. The course is rolling and there will be one aid station at the turn-around.

Swim Seeding:

Any athlete who registers at packet pick-up will be seeded AFTER the last pre-registered athlete begins. There will be a bit of a time break between the last pre-registered athlete and the first walk-in registered athlete. This will allow time for the pool to clear so the fast walk-in registered athletes do not have to swim over anyone.
