- Scott Tinley Triathlons, the longest running road and off road triathlon event in the nation, is moving from the Central Coast to the Central Sierra, China Peak Mountain Resort at Huntington Lake September 8-10, 2017. This weekend of racing starts with a road bike hill climb Friday evening, followed by road bike triathlons Saturday, sprint and Olympic, including a kid's triathlon, followed by the mountain bike hill climb Saturday afternoon, with the mountain bike triathlons Sunday, short and medium courses.
- All events are held at China Peak Mountain Resort in Lakeshore, California, with swimming in Huntington Lake, road biking along the shore, with mountain biking on the trails of the mountain resort. The road bike hill climb takes place up famous Kaiser Pass, with the mountain bike hill climb up the slopes of China Peak. The kid's road bike triathlon is held in the same venue, albeit much shorter lengths.
The base elevation of China Peak and Huntington Lake is 7,000 feet, so athletes should be prepared to enjoy racing at high elevation, with ideal water and air temperatures in September.
- China Peak Mountain Resort is located 65 miles east of Fresno, California. The physical address is 59265 Highway 168, Lakeshore, California. If google maps shows Shaver Lake, just stay on Highway 168 17 miles past Shaver Lake.
- This event is hosted by Triathlon Hall of Fame member and Two Time World Ironman Champion, Scott Tinley, who is moving Scott Tinley Triathlons from San Luis Obispo after 22 great years to China Peak, owned and operated by his long time friend and top age group triathlete, Tim Cohee. China Peak has hosted triathlons for the past six years.
