Timed hill climb! The Oregon Gran Fondo showcases rural communities and ancient Siuslaw National Forest scenery and roads. One event, three routes: Gran 117 miles; Medio 71 miles; Piccolo up to 31 miles. Take the challenge!
The Oregon Gran Fondo has routes for everyone from professional teams and novice riders to families and kids. Its a celebration of cycling that features both competition and riding just for the fun of it.
This 117-mile route will take you deep into the Siuslaw and Smith River forests. The scenery is stunning. The route includes rural county roads and remote BLM byways (paved). The challenges include a timed hill climb and 5,700 feet of elevation gain.
This 71-mile route follows the Gran Route for the first 41 miles (including the timed hill climb) and then turns north onto Elk Creek Road (which turns into Buck Creek Road) to Siuslaw River Road, where the course turns east for the return to Bohemia Park. Riders will enjoy seemingly prehistoric forest scenery and fondly remember the 3,900 feet of elevation gain.
The Piccolo route is perfect for recreational and beginner cyclists. This family friendly route is the Row River National Recreation Trail a round-trip distance of 31.2 miles or any fraction thereof its totally up to the rider. The trail follows an abandoned rail line from Cottage Grove to Dorena Lake, Culp Creek and the nearby Umpqua National Forest. Its a great ride for those looking for a pleasant pedal through beautiful rural landscapes and along the shores of Dorena Lake.
Bohemia Park (map) is a 14-acre heritage park in the heart of downtown Cottage Grove at East Main Street and South 10th Street.
If you are traveling south on I-5
(A right turn onto Hwy 99 at the end of the I-5 off-ramp also will lead to Main Street. From there, turn left to cross the railroad tracks and reach the park.)
If you are traveling north on I-5
