2011 Warhawk Youth Triathlon:
Come to Monroe, LA for your early season race! This 1st annual youth triathlon is sure to be fun for all athletes and spectators. A very spectator friendly course awaits parents & family wanting to watch the kids race and catch the triathlon bug.
Distances will vary depending on age. 5 & 6 yr. olds will swim 25m, bike 2km, & run .5km, 7-10 yr. olds will swim 100m, bike 5km, & run 1km, while 11-15 yr. olds will swim 200m, bike 10km, & run 2km. The swim will be a staggered pool swim - time trial start like the adults in the morning at the full Warhawk Triathlon; starting position will be based on age. The bike course is flat and closed to traffic, and racers will complete a set number of loops depending on age. The run course will be an out and back course on sidewalks on beautiful ULM campus. The finish will be right next to the transition area for all to bask in the glory of finishing. The race takes place on the banks of the breathtaking Bayou Desiard!
The 1st Warhawk Youth Triathlon follows the full Warhawk Triathlon! This is a great way to get your kids involved in triathlon. The youth triathlon will be held at the same venue and is extremely spectator-friendly. You can register your kids for the Warhawk Youth Triathlon through the website. All kids will get a finisher's medal, and there will be some prizes for the winners. So bring out the kids to cheer you on then cheer them on as they race.
