Participants will be ranked by total distance covered for swim, bike, and run for the allotted discipline times. All distances will be converted to miles and transitions will have no impact on final score. If you start late for a particular discipline you will only have the remaining time for that particular event. Distance covered and amount of time will be kept by event officials, all other time keeping and/or distance measurements are null and void.

Waves/ Wave Times – All participants will be assigned to a wave and will be notified of swim start times. Participants should arrive for check in at least 30 minutes prior to their assigned wave start time. Check in will take place in the gym on the lower level of the fitness center. The first wave will start at 8:00am sharp and all subsequent waves will begin in order after that.

Swim – The swimming leg will take place in the lap pool on the lower level of the fitness center. For the swim there will be 2 participants per lane and one lap counter/referee per lane. No pull buoys, wetsuits, paddles, fins, snorkels, or any other swim aid will be permitted. Swimsuits must comply with USA Triathlon rules. Swim Lead will make a binding decision if there is any question about swim aids or swimsuits. Any stroke counts. Breaks are taken at participants own discretion, but overall time does not stop. At the end of the 10 minute swim period, the last length completed will count. No credit for partial lengths. Distance will be based on length completed. The lap pool is 25 yards in length.

Swimmers must begin the race in the water. The swim will start and stop when the swim lead blows the whistle. Swimmers must stay in their assigned lane. Swimmers must remain in the pool for the duration of the swim. Swimmers must continue in the same forward direction until they touch the wall of the pool, then they can turn around.

Bike – The biking leg will take place in the spin room on the lower level of the fitness center. For the bike there will be one wave per row of bikes that will all start and stop at the same time. Please dry yourself as best as you can before the entering the spin room. Shoes, shirt, and shorts/pants must be worn at all times during the biking leg. Bike shoes are optional, but the bike pedals are equipped with shoe clips. Riders may get on and adjust the bike however they would like prior to the assigned wave start, but cannot begin to pedal for credit until the signal is given. Late arrival for the start of this leg will result in a penalty of time lost.

Run - The running leg will take place on the fitness floor on the main level of the gym. Runners will run on the indoor track that goes around the fitness floor. If you wish to take a break during the run, you must move off to the side of the track until you resume running. Shoes, shirt, and shorts/pants must be worn at all times during the running leg. Runners may warm up prior to the assigned wave start, but cannot begin running for credit until the signal is given. Late arrival for the start of this leg will result in a penalty of time lost.

Transitions – The transitions will occur in the men’s and women’s locker rooms right outside of the pool area. All changing of clothes must take place in the locker room. Participants must not attempt to disrupt or impede another participant in any way during the transitions. Failure to be on time for the start of a leg after the transition time will result in a penalty of lost time for that leg, you will still have the remaining leg time to complete your leg. Please, no running from one area to another during the transitions.

After the Race – Light refreshments will be provided after the race in the gym on the lower level of the fitness center. Final results will be available 30 minutes after the completion of the last wave. The awards ceremony will take place shortly thereafter. If you are not present for the awards, they may be picked up at the front desk during regular business hours.

Additional Information – All participants must conduct themselves in accordance with the rules and regulations listed above. Participants must follow all instructions given by event officials and please always compete with good sportsmanship. Any violations will result in disqualification. All judgments/rulings made by event officials are final and cannot be disputed. Personal music devices will be allowed, but please be aware of any instructions that event officials are giving.

Volunteering - Don’t want to participate in the race, but are still looking for an opportunity to be part of this event? Join our volunteer group! Volunteers will guide the participants through the triathlon in an organized and smooth manner. Positions include: Athlete/volunteer check-in, Timers in the pool area, Timers for the bike portion, and Timers for the run portion, Transition managers to move the athletes from space to space, Locker room transition teams, and Finish/check out/post P race hospitality. Volunteer time will be from 7:30am to approximately noon.  We will have two meetings for volunteers closer to the race date and ask that they attend at least one of those meetings. Duties will assigned based on need and request, with need taking priority.  We will do our best to assign all volunteers to their requested role, keeping in mind that some changes may be needed to appropriately cover all areas. Please contact Tina Tuhowski at [email protected] with questions about volunteering or to register with us as a volunteer.

Awards - Join us for the awards ceremony following the finish of the last heat.
