We invite you to take on the challenge of the second annual Great Island Adventure Triathlon, a 23-mile course of paddle, peddle and run, on Saturday, June 28th at the Woodward Boat Launch in Woodward Township (just across the river from Lock Haven), Clinton County, Pennsylvania.
Kayak/Canoe Course 3.5 miles: The Triathlon begins at the Woodward Township boat launch, with paddlers heading up river on the West Branch of the Susquehanna. They will make a clockwise turn around Boom Island and paddle back down river to the boat launch. This is a flatwater course. For kayak rental information, call Rock River & Trail Outfitters at 570-748-1818.
Road Bike Course 15.5 miles: Bicyclists will leave the boat launch area and head out onto a rural road course. Volunteers and signs will guide you at each turn. The course is filled with challenging hills, hairpin curves, and steep up- and downhills. You will peddle through farmlands and the beautiful tree-lined community of Woolrich, back to Lock Haven and back over to the Woodward Boat Launch.
Run Course 4 miles: The final leg of the Triathlon takes you out of the parking lot and turning left onto Route 664, then taking another left and crossing back over the Veterans Bridge. At the end of the bridge, participants will turn left and onto the sidewalk, running up the ramp and onto the RiverWalk (dike/levee walkway). Runners will run to the end of the levee walkway, then turn around and run back the way they came, ending at the Woodward Boat Launch area to finish the event!
Check-in will run from 6:00 to 7:15 a.m., followed by an orientation for all participants at 7:45 a.m. and the start of the race at 8:00 a.m.
