Richwood's Scenic Mountain Triathlon is the longest running race in the state. Now in its 31st year, the Scenic Mountain Triathlon provides a challenging course through the Monongahela National Forest, through hilly terrain.
• The race begins at Summit Lake (cool water temp) with a .5 mile swim. The second leg of the race is a 17.1 mile bike ride from Summit Lake to the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center on State Route 39/55 (hard surface with hills.) The final leg is a 6.2mile run from the Nature center to a locked gate below Cranberry Glades and back (rolling terrain with varying surface.)
The race begins 10.3 miles East of Richwood on State Route 39/55.
Race registration and Packet Pickup is July 9 at the Richwood Chamber of Commerce Office at 38 Edgewood Ave., Richwood. A Community Health Expo will also be held there for athletes and their families from 3-7:00. Additionally, a Kids Duathlon for Children in 4th & 5th grades will be conducted from 1-2:30, beginning at the Richwood High School Track and culminating at the Chamber Office
