2016 Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs Lake Triathlon:
• Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs Lake is a non profit corporation benefiting Youth charities in the Lubbock area.
• The course which serves as a Handcycle Ironman Qualifier and a Handcycle and Age Groups 70.3 Qualifier consists of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run.
Course Information:
Swim:
• Spring fed lake.
• Water temperature on the average is 70-76 degrees.
• 1.2 mile open water swim.
• Wave starts.
• Rectangular course counter clockwise.
• Enter at beach area and exit on cement boat dock area.
Bike:
• 56 mile out and back bike ride.
• Out of town farm to market roads.
• Limited traffic.
• Flat with 8 challenging hill
• Good asphalt roads with some shoulders.
• Approved helmets are required.
• No drafting allowed.
Run:
• 13.1 miles on asphalt.
• Flat with 2 challenging hills.
• Partially shaded, tough, scenic course.
• No non-participant pacing allowed.
