2014 HammerHead Sprint & Olympic Triathlon a.k.a.“The HOT!” This race will be held at the National Guard Military Base at Camp Blanding near Starke, Florida on Sunday, September 28, 2014. This year the HOT will donate all proceeds from the race to the National Guard Youth Foundation.
The National Guard Youth Foundationis an organization whose goal is to provide opportunities for troubled youths who are deemed to be most at-risk and who demonstrate a desire to improve their potential for successful and productive lives. The program provides a boot camp environment for them that incorporates discipline, structure, guidance, education and mentoring to help these individuals become functioning adults with a new hope for the future.
The swim will be in Kingsley Lake which is one of the states pristine waterways (no salt water and no sharks!) and usually very smooth for a fast race.
The bike course will be entirely within Camp Blanding with little, if any, traffic.
Expect a few rolling hills.
Two loops for the Olympic.
One loop for the Sprint distance.
The run will be a flat out and back.
Plenty of aid stations.
Take Blanding BLVD South past Middleburg to County Road (CR) 215,
Take the right fork and continue until you reach State Road (SR) 16.
Take a right on to SR 16 for approx 1 mile and turn left into the main gate.
There will be a post map available at the main gate for parking and transition area.
