Skagit's Amazing Race to Raise Great Kids : |
Obstacle/Mud Runs : Adventure Run With Obstacles |
Are you ready to get involved with one of the most unique experiences to be offered in Skagit County? The inaugural fundraising event, Skagit’s AMAZING RACE to Raise Great Kids, is from 9 am—3 pm, Sat., June 28, with all proceeds to support the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club.
This is not a marathon, relay match or scavenger hunt! It’s a special blend of many challenges based on the Priority Outcomes of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County’s Formula for Impact: Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. Loosely following the format of the CBS reality television game show, “The Amazing Race,” race participants can expect to encounter physical skill elements, such as running and climbing, combined with creative and/or mental skills, such as singing, dancing, puzzle solving, fact finding, or eating strange foods.
Skagit’s AMAZING RACE to Raise Great Kids will have two race legs: (1) the Qualifying Leg and (2) the Final Leg. A maximum of 50, 2-person teams will compete against each other in the Qualifying Leg of the race, completing no less than 10 challenges. The first 10 teams to complete the Qualifying Leg of the race with the fastest times will move on to the Final Leg of the race, completing no less than five more extreme challenges. The top three qualifying teams will win prizes, with the first place finisher taking home the trophy/plaque and top winnings.
