2014 Madison Community Center Triathlon:



Packet Pick Up: - (The Community Center)
  • Friday, May 30th 5pm - 8pm
  • Saturday, May 31st 6:30am - 8am

  • Early registration deadline will be Wednesday, April 10th.
  • To ensure proper swim order you must register by 12pm on April 17th.
  • All late registrants will go into the water at the end of the line.

  • You must be at least 14 years old by the date of the event to participate in the Triathlon.

  • For safety purposes all participants must wear a helmet during the bike route.
  • Head phones with musical devices shall not be worn at any time during the triathlon.

  • Participants must have bib number visible at all time to race officials or be subject to disqualification.
  • Bib numbers must be facing forward when crossing the finish line.
  • Helmet number must be on the front of your helmet and bike numbers on the cross bar or under the seat with the number side facing backwards.

  • Weather contingency plan is in place if necessary.
  • Madison Community Center reserves the right to make course modifications in case of inclement weather.

    • Course Information:


    Swim:
  • The Triathlon starts at The Community Center pool. The swim will be a 300 yard snake swim. Please indicate your estimated swim on the bottom of your registration form.

    Bike:
  • The participants then transition to the bikes, which will be stored to the west of the building in the DSU Fieldhouse parking lot.
  • The bike route will take you south down Washington Ave. to the first 4 way stop (9th St.).
  • At the four way stop you will make a right turn (west) onto 9th street. You will continue west on 9th street until you reach Highway 81 (Hyland Ave).
  • At the stop sign, you will make another right and turn north on Highway 81 for 3.5 miles. Turn around at the barrels, there will be a person there to direct you.
  • Return south to 9th street where you will make a left and continue east until you reach the four way stop where you will make a left and turn north towards The Community Center.

    Run:
  • The transition for the run will be in the same area as for the bikes.
  • When you come out of the transition area you will turn right (north on Washington Ave), you will run approximately one mile and then take the first right (15th Street NE).
  • Continue east until you reach the turn around point, there will be another person to direct you.
  • Return back west to The Community Center and the finish will be on your right just before the transition area.

    • Directions:


    The Community Center 500 NE 11th Street:
  • Highway 34 into Madison from the east follow Washington Ave (hyway 34) North past the 4 way stop. You will go by Washington Elem School - Dakota State Campus - Madison Hospital. There will be another 4 way stop - continue north for one long block we are on the northeast corner and you will see the glass windows of our pool area.
  • From the West turn north at the 4 way stop (Pizza Ranch is on the corner)travel north until you reach 9th street. (last street before you go leave town) turn east(right) on 9th go until you reach Washington Ave (4 way stop by hospital) turn north (left) go one long block we are on the north east corner.
  • From the north -turn east (left) on 9th street go to the 4 way stop by the hospital turn north (left) drive one long block -we are on the northeast corner.
