Run Like a Girl Event to Support Ovarian Cancer Awareness and Research
September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. There is no screening test for Ovarian Cancer. A pap smear does NOT diagnose the disease. It is often referred to as "the silent killer". Early diagnosis increases the survival rate. If caught early, there is more than a 90% survival rate. Early detection saves lives. Knowing the signs is essential.
Run Like a Girl (RLaG) holds an annual event October 13th at Richmond's West Creek Parkway to raise awareness about the disease and funds for the HERA Foundation.
The HERA Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides funds for cutting-edge research grants to scientists at respectable medical institutes.
