Human runners will be given 3 flags (think flag football) that are to be worn at the waist hanging clearly visible at sides and back. The zombies will try to remove all of the human runners flags. If zombies capture all of a runners flags, runners become infected. However, runners are not yet in full throes of the virus and will not become zombified. Therefore, runners are NOT permitted to remove other human runners life flags.

The 5k run will navigate down zombie infested trails, through tunnels and over obstacles to reach the safety of our triage area. There will be specific safe areas where Zombies are unable to chase participants or take any life flags. Runners may utilize these areas to catch their breath and strategize their run. There will be a series of man-made and natural obstacles that may be physically challenging, but not impossible. The obstacles will test runners strength, speed and the cooperation between runners and their fellow hopeful survivors. Runners will need to climb, crawl, duck and dive their way to the finish line while being pursued by Zombies.

There will be an outdoor movie shown at the venue after the run.

***MOVIE IS FREE WITH EVERY REGISTRATION!!***

Course Information:

Zombie Outbreak!

It all began with a phone call from the Center for Disease Control. Boojum fielded the call and spoke to the CDC representative who asked us for help. They were expecting a local outbreak of a new infection that was highly contagious and spreading fast, and were calling in help from every quarter. See, the CDC (like many) misread our name and believed us to be the Boojum Institute for EXPERIMENTAL Education.

The CDC revealed to us the details of this new outbreak. The virus appears to be triggered by the human brains disconnection from its natural world. The outbreak is most prevalent in highly urbanized areas and large cities, where it has spiraled almost out of control. As soon as the virus takes over a human body, the human loses spirit and humanity and the subject undergoes a death-like process. The subject then becomes enraged and/or listless, with no detectable life force or vitality. An insatiable appetite for brains, inducing homicidal behavior, accompanies either of these behavior manifestations.

Being the conscientious organization that we are and always open to a new adventure, of course we agreed to help. We formed the BZRI, Boojum Zombie Research Institute, and we have been hard at work on the vaccine for the zombie disease. The cure we have discovered can prevent the virus from taking hold in a human subject. It consists of a healthy regimen of outdoor activity and concentrated time spent out in nature and away from the asphalt and cement jungles of highly populated areas where the disease has become rampant. We have quarantined the outbreak zone and will be overseeing a mass transit of uninfected humans through the quarantine zone riddled with diseased virus carriers to the safety of our triage area replete with the vaccine.
