The only time running away benefits cancer: Prison Break Against Breast Cancer is a themed 5K obstacle course (Mud Run) with obstacles similar to what someone may experience during a prison break. Some of the obstacles include balance beams over water, scaling fences, culvert runs, and crawling under wire that may or may not be electrified (only one way to find out, but getting down and dirty may be the best option). There will be 15 obstacles, not including the natural challenges the terrain offers. All proceeds of this event will be donated to Organizations that promote breast cancer awareness and provide support to people with the diagnosis.
Course Information:
The undeveloped land 'below the dam' north of Silver and East Fork Lake has served as the home for the law enforcement's shooting range and the White Squirrel Saddle Club. Miles of trails and a rolling countryside will serve as the first obstacle / mud run event in the Olney area.
Directions:
Olney Illinois is located 45 miles southeast of Effingham IL (where US 57 and 70 intersect); 25 miles due west of Vincennes IN and about 60 miles northeast of Mt Vernon IL (where US 57 and 64 intersect).
The event venue is on the north west end of East Fork Lake - turn east from IL 130 onto Mac(k) Avenue (stop light) and about a mile further turn north (left) onto Silver. If you miss that and get to the T road at East Street, turn north (left) there and it will bring you back to Silver. Once on Silver, go up the dam, follow the road to the right curving around the west end of the Lake, then prepare to turn left as soon as you've crossed the Lake.
