Rochester Area Triathletes (RATs) is hosting the 3rd annual Rochester Triathlon. Beautiful Lake Ontario and Durand Eastman Park will serve as the backdrop to the only triathlon in Rochester, NY.
The swim is a triangular course over a soft and sandy lake bottom. The enormous buoys and short legs make this an ideal swim for the beginner while very fast for the experienced triathlete.
The cycling portion of the race is a 10K loop around Durand Eastman Park. At the start you will take in the beautiful scenery of the long and gently winding road through the park. After climbing through the canopy, you will enjoy a wide shoulder and flat roads. The final portion of the bike route delivers a long stretch of road accompanied by lake breezes.
Back in transition, you will transition from the speed of the bike for the agility and solitude of the run. The path is smooth and fast, taking you along the water, over a winding bridge and into the woods. Sprint distance participants will turn around at the hairpin turn. The Intermediate distance participants will continue up the shade-cooled hill into the Seabreeze neighborhood. After touring the neighborhood, you will make your way back to the Lake towpath to the finish.
Bring the family and visit Seabreeze, the local amusement and water park within two miles of the race site.
Sprint Distance
There will be relay teams allowed for each course.
Transition Area is located at the western-most edge of Durand Eastman Beach immediately adjacent to Parking Lot A.
