Triathlon : Swim ¼ Mile, Bike 17 Miles, Run 2.8 Miles |
.25 Mile Swim
Intermediate
The race transition area will be located at Walker City Park and the 1/4 mile swim will take place in Walker Bay of Leech Lake. Winds and water temperature can be unpredictable. Most likely be cooler water. Wetsuits are encouraged.
17 Mile Bike
First half Intermediate
It begins at Walker City Park, goes down Railroad Avenue and connects with the paved Heartland Trail. Athletes will then go across CR 12 to Lake May Rd to Hwy 34. The route will go west on Hwy 34 to CR 26 where it will connect back to the Heartland Trail. Shoulder of Hwy is very wide, newly paved, and will not cross any major roads. Terrain will consist of long down hills and long gentle up hill climbs.
Second half Beginner
Athletes will then follow the Heartland Trail back to the city of Walker. The trail terrain back will be flat, generally straight, and shaded.
2.8 Mile Run
Intermediate
The run route is 2.8 miles long. It begins at Walker City Park, goes up a small incline out of the park and onto paved Walker Bay Blvd. Once you get to the turn around you will follow the same route back except for a short time where runners will use the bike trail. The terrain slopes up and down creating a very challenging run. The course follows beautiful Leech Lake for a great ending to a fun race.
.25 Mile Swim
Intermediate
